Sentry™: Cooling water failure alarm for wet exhaust systems.Sentry™ provides an audio and visual alarm if your engine’s raw water cooling flow should be interrupted. This could be caused by debris blocking the inlet, a clogged inlet strainer or by failing to open the inlet seacock. Raw water failure is the most common problem with marine engines. Within a short period of time expensive damage to engine or wet exhaust system can occur. The raw seawater cooling flow is necessary to extract the heat from the engine cooling water in the heat exchanger and discharge it via the exhaust system. Failure of this flow of raw water will not only lead to overheating of the engine but also overheating of the exhaust system components.
Our Sentry alarm system consists of a fast acting thermistor band sensor that quickly detects loss or restriction of raw cooling water well before the engine overheats or damage to wet exhaust components occurs. The thermistor is strapped to the exhaust hose just after the mixing elbow. The kit includes: A nylon coated stainless steel band sensor, which fits wet exhaust hoses from 2” (5cm) to 7” (18cm) in diameter. An LED indicator light and name tag for panel mounting. A buzzer module which can be mounted at the engine control panel or other convenient location. A 10ft (3m) tinned copper sensor cable. Installation instructions.
